The history of the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Mencey is associated with the elegance and glamour of the famous visitors who have stayed in its suites for 60 years.

Staying in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and staying at the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Mencey are one and the same thing.

Santa Cruz is a city living in connection with the sea. The arrival of the first international visitors in the twentieth century was a turning point in its development. They came to Tenerife attracted by the local customs and traditions, the architecture and the food, the shades of its colonial landscape.

The city’s glory is intertwined with the potential of the island. It glitters in the eyes of visitors, but locals have their reasons to love it too.

Driven by the need to woo travellers, an exclusive modern hotel was built in town for distinguished visitors. It was the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Mencey.

Opening for the first time on 8 April 1950, the Mencey soon came to be associated with elegance, glamour and savoir faire, courtesy of its iconic facilities, artistic heritage and the efforts of its attentive staff.

The hotel soon earned prestige among the most discerning guests. The original 80 guestrooms became 128 in a very short time. In its most glorious years, the Mencey had 303 rooms.

In sum, the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Mencey soon turned into Santa Cruz’s new icon.

The hotel’s renovation had a clear purpose: to recover quality service and add state-of-the-art technology while preserving the elegant atmosphere that was already a distinguishing feature.

In order to attain this goal, it was converted to the IBEROSTAR Grand Hotel Mencey, one of the city’s icons with glamour for the twenty-first century.

Luxurious suites, a fabulous spa and wellness centre, gastronomy and innovative Cookery School, facilities for conferences and events… Who could ask for more?
